DOVER — Tayveon Crawford ran for 325 yards and three touchdowns Friday, as Steubenville topped Dover, 42-20, inside Crater Stadium.

The senior tailback, who has gone over 1,000 yards for the season, scored on runs of 11, 28 and 35 yards, as Big Red improved to 5-1 and picked up a bunch of computer points.

Steubenville now holds an 18-4-1 lead in its series with Dover. Big Red entered the game ranked fifth in Division III, Region 9, while Dover was eighth.

The Tornadoes, now 4-2, took the opening kick and quickly moved 66 yards, scoring on a 57-yard pass from Ayden Hall to Nathan Ravine. Big Red responded with a 65-yard drive, Dave Tuttle plowing over from a yard out.

Dover’s second drive ended with an interception in the Big Red end zone by Deonbre Anderson. The visitors then went 93 yards, getting a touchdown via an 8-yard Randy Mitchell to Niko Kausky pass.

The Tornadoes answered immediately on a 65-yards pass from A. Hall to Tyler Sweitzer.

Late in the first half, Dover recovered a fumble deep in Big Red territory. The defense held its ground, however, forcing a turnover on downs. Steubenville then put together a 12-play, 72-yard march. Crawford did the honors on an 11-yard run.

Big Red took the second half kick and moved 80 yards, chewing up 6:21 off the third quarter clock. Crawford got the score on his 28-yard sprint.

Dover pulled to within 8 (28-20) on a 1-yard run by Keaton Hall.

Big Red would get the game’s final two scores. Following an interception by Draven Martineau, Steubenville got Crawford’s 35 yard touchdown sprint. A pick by Tuttle lead to a 7-yard scoring run by Rodney James Jr.

Mitchell threw for 98 yards for Big Red, which will host National Christian Academy from Maryland next week.

Dover’s A. Hall, just a sophomore, passed 292 yards and two scores. He was picked off four times. Ravine had six receptions for 123 yards.

Steubenville returns to action next Friday to challenge National Christian during homecoming.
