Ferry baseball stays hot; UL’s Gregor no hits BL in softball

RICHMOND — The Purple Riders avenged a loss from Saturday by fending off the homesteading Wildcats at Jefferson Lake State Park Wednesday, 4-1

Freshman Barron Lucey was impressive on the mound, fanning nine and allowing just one walk in a gem.

Offensively, the Riders received a RBI triple from Colten Reddinger, a run-scoring double from both Conner Probst and Colin Snedeker.

Blake Connelly led the Wildcats with two singles.

Wheeling Central 10, Monroe Central 1

WOODSFIELD — The invading Maroon Knights hit four home runs and pounded out 18 total hits in a rout of the Seminoles Wednesday.

Wheeling Central received a pair of solo home runs from senior Jordan Waterhouse.

Monroe Central received two singles from Wade Stoehr and a RBI single from Collin Kroll.

River 13, Valley 3

HANNIBAL — Just a night after committed 10 errors, the Pilots played flawless defense in a win over Valley at Rick Bonar Field.

Jake Rose and Carter Dennis led the offensive attack with a single and a triple. Brody Lollathin had a double and Brady Harlan had two singles.

SOFTBALL

River 5, Barnesville 1

BARNESVILLE — The Pilots picked up another win in an OVAC championship tuneup over the Shamrocks at Memorial Park.

River received strong pitching from Katie Lively. She fanned seven in a complete-game effort.

Hannah Raper led the offense with three singles and three RBI. Aedyn Kraft had two singles and a RBI. Josie Reed produced a triple and Lindsey Huffman had two singles.

The Shamrocks received two singles from Savanna Robinson.

Union Local 11, Buckeye Local 0

CONNORVILLE — Just 24 hours removed from having a perfect game achieved against them, the Jets bounced back and pounded out 12 hits and no hit the homesteading Panthers on Wednesday.

Keira Gregor struck out four and walked one in a masterpiece. She also had a single and a RBI.

Senior Casey Kildow came up big with the bat. She had two triples, a double and two RBI. Ava Lucas had two RBI on two singles. Alleigh Cheatham had a single and two RBI. Torre Kildow had a triple and a single.
