St. Clairsville Post 159 sweeps by New Philly

NEW PHILADELPHIA – St. Clairsville Post 159 (3-0) remained unbeaten with a doubleheader sweep of homestanding New Philadelphia by scores of 8-4 and 11-1 in a game called after six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

In the opener, Braylen Blomquist singled twice and doubled to spark a 11-hit attack. Drew Sefsick added a single and home run to account for two RBI, while Will Balgo blasted a solo homer. Colin Snedeker added an RBI double and Zach Vickers tripled in another.

Robby Kain earned the mound win with six strikeouts and four walks in five-and-a-third innings.

In the nightcap, Sefsick singled and doubled twice to plate five runs as the winners collected a dozen safeties.

Balgo also doubled twice and drove in three runs. Snedeker added a single and double that produced a run, while Hunter Hoffman tripled in a run. Mason Myers and Kaden Banal both singled twice and Vickers had an RBI.

Dylan Gregorcic went the distance on the hill with four Ks and a pair of walks. He yielded half-a-dozen hits.

St. Clairsville was supposed to host Marietta today, but that game has been canceled. Post 159 visits Wheeling Post 1 on Tuesday.
