Union Local remains unbeaten, scores 41-14 win over Beaver Local

LISBON — Union Local (6-0) remained unbeaten Friday night with a 41-14 decision over host Beaver Local.

The Jets used a balanced offensive attack with 268 yards rushing and another 205 through the air. They ran for three TDs and passed for another three.

Colby Carpenter completed 5 of 7 passes for 180 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He connected twice with Dre Saunders from 48 and 51 yards. Isaiah Tomolonis also hooked up with Peyton Causby for a 14-yard TD. Both also ran for six points, Tomolonis from 5 yards and Causby from 8.

Brody Perzanowski ran 14 times for 157 yards and opened the scoring with a 59-yard jaunt.

Jeff Bolon kicked three PATs.

Heartland Christian 1

NORTH LIMA, Ohio –Newcomer Lucas Gallego notched his first two goals as John Marshall made the long trek to Heartland Christian and earned a 5-1 victory in an OVAC consolation game.

Trent Burton, Austin Bumgardner and Quinton West also scored as the Monarchs won their second straight. West added two assists and Burton helped on one.

Tripp Bonds earned the victory making six saves. Juan Delgao stopped three shots.

CROSS COUNTRY

John Marshall Invitational

MOUNDSVILLE — The John Marshall Monarchs boys and girls cross country squads each took first place Saturday in the John Marshall Invitational. Shadyside placed second as a team in the girls race while Indian Creek took third. Brooke placed second in the boys race, and Oak Glen took third.

Finishing first individually in the boys race was Brooke’s Gavin Scott, who crossed the finish line in 18:19.88. Rounding out the top five boys, from second to fifth, was Oak Glen’s Boden Konchar, John Marshall’s Hadden Garvin, John Marshall’s Carson Fitzpatrick, and John Marshall’s Brodie Baker.

John Marshall’s Zoe Zervos ran the race in 20:02.50 to top the field in the girls race. The rest of the top five were, from second to fifth, Oak Glen’s Lacey Cameron, Shadyside’s Chloe Meholovitch, John Marshall’s Kalyn Reese and John Marshall’s Rilee Storm.
