Warren Township Trustees meet

TILTONSVILLE — The Warren Township Board of Trustees met Jan. 9 at the township office in Tiltonsville. Prior to the scheduled meeting, the trustees held a reorganizational meeting naming Larry DeLuca as the president for the 2019 year.

Members of Yorkville and Tiltonsville EMS squads were in attendance and broached the subject of the township placing a levy on the ballot in May or November to add an additional 1.5 mills to the current 1.5-mill EMS levy within the township. Trustees inquired about billing for EMS runs, department responsibilities, logistics for placing the levy on a ballot, voter notification, etc. The trustees were in agreement that the township would examine the proposal for its merit and begin the legwork for possible placement on an upcoming ballot.

DeLuca noted that the crew would begin work in the three township cemeteries in late March and that all grave blankets should be removed by March 15. DeLuca also noted that rates for mowing in the cemeteries would be $35 for a half lot and $45 for a whole lot. These are the same prices the township has charged for the past several years.

Trustee Dan Meeker stated that CTL Engineering had scheduled core drilling tests on Jan. 11 for Township Road 109A and on Jan. 14 for Township Road 113. DeLuca notified Buckeye Local School District’s transportation department about possible problems with school buses on those days.

Steve Kurucz informed Jefferson County 911 about those dates and roadways as well.

Bob Crawford of MarkWest Inc. informed Meeker that he had completed all work on Gerke Road. The road is currently being used by Ascent Development for the building of a well pad. Ascent has agreed to grade and slag the entire road. Jason Gander of Ascent said the road will ultimately be paved from County Road 15 to the Porco well pad on Township Road 114.
