Prep Roundup: Petho throws a no hitter in Linsly victory

WHEELING — Linsly starting pitcher Eli Petho was brilliant on Tuesday, tossing a no-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Caldwell.

Petho struck out four and walked five in the complete game effort with a good fastball, mixed in with a changeup.

At the plate, Alex Papadimitriou paced the Cadets (5-0) with a single, double and two RBI, while Hunter Kelley turned in a double and a RBI, Jon Milton provided a single and a RBI and Lee Cartwright added a RBI.

Central Crossing 11, St. Clairsville 1

ELM GROVE — Central Crossing scored seven runs in the fifth inning to finish off St. Clairsville under the lights at the J. B. Chambers Youth Sports Complex.

Broc Crist doubled and singled for the debuting Red Devils, who committed six errors. Jakob Jarvis doubled and knocked in St. C.’s only run, which came in the first.

Monroe Central 6, Frontier 3

BEAVERTON — Austin Sloan tripled, singled twice and knocked in three runs as Monroe Central doubled up Frontier.

Talin Babcock also had three hits for the Seminoles, which driving in two runs.

Wade Stoehr fanned 14 and walked none in five and 2/3 on the hill to get the victory.

SOFTBALL

Barnesville 25, East Liverpool 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — Erin Hannahs scored six times and came up a homer short of the cycle Tuesday afternoon as debuting Barnesville blanked East Liverpool 25-0 in five innings in prep softball action.

Hannahs also knocked in three runs for the Shamrocks.

Regan Hanlon tossed a two-hitter for Barnesville, striking out 12 and walking none.

Cayleigh Reynolds added two singles and four RBI for the Shamrocks, while Baylie Leach had two hits and five RBI, Madison Detling recorded two hits and three RBI and Mikaela West had three hits and an RBI.

St. Clairsville 7, Meadowbrook 5

BYESVILLE — Hannah Thoburn belted three hits, including a homer, and knocked in two runs, helping St. Clairsville open its season with a victory against Meadowbrook.

Taylor Gallentine also rapped three hits for the Red Devils, who finished with 15 total.

Bree Bennington, Dakotah Namach, Taylor Toothman and Katie Miller all added two hits for St. Clairsville.
