Ohio State HIghway Patrol Sgt. Drew Hertlein is investigating and said a Belmont County sheriff’s deputy was responding to a call at the Boscov’s Department store at the Ohio Valley Mall with lights and sirens activated. He said the deputy cleared the intersection and was proceeding from the Interstate 70 eastbound off-ramp onto Mall Road when another motorist ran a red light and struck the deputy’s cruiser. Hertlein said he expects a citation to be issued to the driver who ran the red light, but he declined to release the names of the drivers at press time. No one was injured in the accident.
