Barnesville man arrested for child porn charge

BARNESVILLE — A local man is accused of sharing child pornography.

On Tuesday, Barnesville police arrested Christopher Angle, 41, for allegedly possessing and sharing a media file that reportedly shows sexual acts involving two girls, who investigators believe are possibly 10 or 11 years old.

“We were notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They monitor internet traffic and sometimes come across where people are viewing or sharing files that contain underage porn,” village Police Chief Rocky Sirianni said. “They made us aware of this, gave us some information on the possible suspect. We talked to the suspect and he ended up confessing to possessing and sharing files of that nature.”

The arrest report alleges Angle also confessed to viewing multiple other files containing child pornography in recent months.

Angle is charged with second-degree felonies that include pandering obscenity involving a minor and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Sirianni said it is imperative that law enforcement responds to crimes of this nature, investigating thoroughly and quickly. He thanked the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for its work and expressed hope that through organizations like it, child victims can be helped and the offenders and creators of “heartbreaking garbage” can be brought to justice in a way that fits their crimes.
