Thursday Music Club announces honors recital on April 23

WHEELING — The Thursday Music Club of Wheeling sponsored the Annual Young Musicians Auditions held at West Liberty University on March 31-April 1. Ninety students presented memorized solo works in piano, voice, and organ.

This years’ auditions judges included WLU Faculty members Gerald Lee, piano; Scott Glysson, voice; and area musician and educator Gladys Mitch, organ.

Carol J. Couch, chairwoman of this years’ auditions, said the Honors Recital is slated 2 p.m. for Sunday, April 23, beginning at Vance Presbyterian Church in Wheeling.

The public is invited to attend to recognize the achievements of area music students. Students who received a rating of “Superior” or “Superior with Honors” have been invited to participate in the recital.

Students who received Superior with Honors in Piano are: Abby Baker, Aaron Chao, Benjamin Jones, Jacqueline O’Karma, Johnny O’Karma, Tabitha Straub, and Hailey Workman.

Students with Superior in Piano include; Olivia Albracht, Andrea Alimario, Abby Baker, Adriana Bertini, Isaac Bertini, Vivian Bloomfield, Trevor Borner, Ava Bretz, Claire Carson, Katherine Carson, Veronica Chapman Casey, Tommy Charnie, Katelynd Costa, Rylie Cottrill, Alexis Cumberledge, Katherine Doud, Catherine Glowdowski, Gianna Hooper, Sarah Jones, Juliana Kepple, Brayley Lash, Camden Mackey, Mason Mackey, Marissa Malarski, Amelia Mandel, Sydney May, Cameron Michaud, Addison Orecchio, Audrey Orecchio, Chloe Patt, Laila Reed, Brooke Sansone, Olivia Sheller, Ian Sincovich, Autumn Smith, Tabitha Straub, Anne Takach, Jett Thomas, Juliana Velegol, Hannah Williams, Hailey Workman, Megan Wright, and Lauren Zeigler.

Students of Voice who received Superior with Honors included: Stephanie Ebarb, Olivia Huval, and Rhyanna Wiethe. Vocal students with Superior ratings are: Cole Bloomfield, Natalie Clarke, Ella Costain, Katherine Marks, Katie Neumann, Faith Randolph, Ally Sarras, and Rhyanna Wiethe.

Benjamin Jones was a double Superior with Honors recipient, achieving the distinction in both Piano Solo as well as Organ Solos.

Ohio Valley music teachers who entered students in this years’ auditions included; Linda Benyo, Anita Chops, Barbara Daly, Roberta Fedousch, Karin Freese, Barbara Hines, William Hines, Mary Jo Magyar, Martha McLaughlin, Millard Neal, Marie Parker, Lolou Roseberry, Tonie Sivert, Janice Torrance and Kathryn Wallington.
