BARNESVILLE -- Angela Hannahs is the new superintendent of the Barnesville Exempted Village School District.
She comes to the job with several years of experience. Hannahs has worked in the field of education for nearly 25 years, with 16 of those years in administrative roles.
Hannahs started her career as a substitute teacher then moved on to become a high school English teacher in the Union Local School District. She served as the coordinator of gifted programs for the Belmont County Educational Service Center, now known as the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center. From there she accepted the elementary school principalship in Barnesville.
She then served as the curriculum director and 21st Century Program manager at Barnesville.
She will be replacing Randy Lucas, who accepted the position of deputy superintendent with the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center.
"I am proud to serve the Barnesville Exempted Village School District as superintendent. I am grateful to Mr. Randy Lucas for his innovative vision and the positive direction he has taken the district these past 12 years. He has been an excellent mentor, and I feel well prepared for my new duties. I wish to thank the board of education for their confidence and support, and I look forward to continue working with the staff, students, parents and community members of Barnesville," Hannahs said.
Hannahs will officially begin work as superintendent on Oct. 1. She resides in Barnesville with her husband, Aaron, and children, Erin and Jude.
