The house on 22nd Street in Bellaire, which was supposed to be vacant, was ablaze Tuesday morning. Bellaire Police Chief Richard “Dick” Flanagan, who serves as the city’s code enforcement officer, said a vagrant might have been staying inside.
BELLAIRE -- Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire early Tuesday in Bellaire.
Bellaire Police Chief Richard "Dick" Flanagan, who serves as the city's code enforcement officer, said the house was supposed to be vacant after being condemned last year. Flanagan said power was still on in the building and extension cords were found all through it.
"There was probably a vagrant living in there," he said.
Flanagan said there no one was injured in the blaze. He said he didn't believe there was any damage to adjacent buildings.
No one from Bellaire's fire department could be reached for comment.
Bellaire, Neffs and Martins Ferry fire departments responded.
