WHEELING -- The city of Wheeling bolster holiday spirit Saturday, giving people the chance to strap on some ice skates and glide around The Plaza on Market.
In conjunction with Small Business Saturday this weekend, the city will add a synthetic ice rink to The Plaza on Market, 1053 Market St., for the day. The public is invited to skate from 3-8 p.m. It is free of charge, and ice skates will be available for use.
The city brought the rink to the Plaza in 2019 but put the event on hold in 2020 because of COVID-19.
"We are excited to bring ice skating back to our downtown," Wheeling Vice-Mayor Chad Thalman said. "The first year for the rink was a great success so we want to do it again.
"We encourage people to come out and visit many of our small businesses in the city and stop by the ice rink to enjoy some winter fun as we kick off the holiday season."
