Local Students Win Ruritan Awards
CADIZ — For the 37th year the annual Scio Dining Fork Ruritan Club Awards Dinner honored 166 students from Harrison Central High School for their outstanding work in the classroom.
Hosted by the Scio Dining Fork Ruritan Club, the May 2 event was held at the Harrison North Barr Memorial Building. A dinner was prepared by the Scio Volunteer Fire Department and served to the scholars and quests by fire department members and other volunteers.
Master of Ceremonies Joe Myers welcomed those in attendance, opening with the Pledge of Allegiance. Harry Horstman led the singing of “America” and the invocation was given by Brent Ripley.
Dinner music was provided by the Harrison Central Jazz Band under the direction of Eric Zalenski.
Presentation of award to students for carrying a 3.5 GPA were announced by Harrison Central High School Principal Brent Ripley and presented by George Scott.

The Harrison Hills City School Board presented an update to those in attendance on the progress of the new school complex to be constructed along Ohio 9. Board members participating included Deborah Kenny, Duran Morgan, Phil Madzi, Tracy Mattern and D.J. Watson.
