Harmony House Monster Mash Bash set for Oct. 21
Benefits Harmony’s Children’s Advocacy Center
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Harmony House, Children’s Advocacy Center, is holding its annual autumn fundraiser this year at J.B. Martin Rec Center in St. Clairsville on Saturday, Oct. 21. The 6th annual “adult Halloween party,” the Monster Mash Bash, is a chance for “boos and ghouls” 21 years old and older to support a great cause and celebrate the spirit of haunting season. The event runs from 7-10 p.m.
The event includes catered food, beer and soft drinks. The recreation center is located in downtown St. Clairsville at 102 Fair St., adjacent to Red Devil Stadium and the old fair grounds. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 740-695-0812 or online at https://mmb17harmony house.eventbrite.com.
This year’s event marks the 6th Mash hosted by Harmony House’s Ohio Auxiliary, coordinated by Harmony House Senior Interviewer Scott Steele.
“This is an exciting event to us as it specifically benefits the children of Belmont County,” Steele said. “Everything that is raised stays in this county. We are excited to share the event with the people who work with us every day, our friends and families, and professionals in the community who support our mission through sponsorship and donation. Not only is it a fundraising event, it’s a celebration for children who are now getting help, who might not otherwise got the help that they needed. ”
The Monster Mash Bash will offer a 50/50 raffle, chance auction, and mystery grab bag items. Guests can enjoy the sounds of DJ- R&B’s Music Factory. A photo-green screen with take home prints will be on site. Also on tap for the evening is annual costume contest. Prizes are awarded for scariest, most original, best couple, and Best of the Bash.
“Halloween is my favorite time of year,” said second-year Ohio Auxiliary member Jill Jefferis. “I look forward to this event each year when I can be anything I want to be and it supports a great local nonprofit. With all the recent world tragedy and hopelessness, this is a fun way and a small step to overcome some of the ugliness we have seen lately, but locally.”
Jefferis noted this will be her fourth Monster Mash.
Title sponsor of the the event is XTO Energy. Additional sponsors include: Belmont Savings Bank, Blacksheep Vineyard, Fabio’s Pizza, Rice Energy, St. Clairsville Rotary, West Texas Road House and one “very gracious” anonymous donor thus far, organizers said.
Harmony House, Children’s Advocacy Center, is a comprehensive, child-focused program that allows prosecutors, law enforcement, child protective service workers, medical and mental health professionals, and victim advocates to work together to strengthen the community’s response to child abuse. It serves Belmont County in Ohio and Marshall and Ohio counties in West Virginia.
