Take that, wrinkle cream!

Tomorrow is my birthday and let’s just say I am over 40, though I’ve been that way for over a year now. You can do the math if you really want to know how old I am. I think the wrinkles on my hands and under my eyes say I am much older, but I’ve earned everyone of them, I think.

I must watch too much home shopping on TV because I’ve been thinking about all the wrinkle cream they peddle and how maybe I should buy some of it.

Does it really work? I’m not so sure. If it did really work wouldn’t all the models on those shopping networks be totally wrinkle free by now?

I mean they have been putting that stuff on their faces for years, over and over again for all of us to see how wonderful it feels and how it is worth it. I get sucked into the regular wrinkle cream commercials, too. She’s my age, I think to myself, maybe I need it, too.

My biggest problem with wrinkle cream, I think, is that you have to remember to put it on every day or every night, depending on what you buy.

I have to admit that most days I only end up looking at myself once in the mirror each morning when I am brushing my teeth and hair. If I have time I quickly smear on some foundation that “blurs the lines,” which is a phrase I picked up from watching home shopping makeup shows.

I think tonight when I go home I will look in the mirror and smile and see where the smile lines land. I wouldn’t mind having more of them, I think. They’re worth it — not the frownie lines. I’m not sure there’s much difference. I might have to make faces in the mirror to figure it out. That’s downright silly, right?

My husband told me the other day that I didn’t have any wrinkles! God bless him! Looking back I should have agreed with him immediately. I think these wrinkles must also be impacting my judgement.
