OHIO RIVER Festival is set to take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Powhatan Point Marina. People are invited to come out and see all the Ohio River and Captina Creek have to offer. There will be five stations to visit and more than $1,000 in door prizes ranging from a kayak to a loaded fishing kit. BLAZING STORIES returns to Grand Vue Park in Moundsville at 7 p.m. Thursday at Shelter 1 (the Zipline Base Camp), beside the Aerial Adventure Park. This event is featuring two popular local storytellers and educators: Rich Knoblich and Judi Tarowsky. Both performers are well-known for traditional folktales, humorous yarns, ghost stories, legends and fascinating forays into history. Grand Vue Park and the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library are pleased to partner to make possible this special storytelling event. It is free and open to the public. WHEELING’S OWN nationally recognized and award-winning entertainer Craig Karges is bringing his “Experience the Extraordinary” show back to Wheeling’s J.B. Chambers Performing Arts Center for the first time in three years. The all-ages show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 and tickets are $20 each. They can be ordered at www.eventbrite.com. Tickets will not be available at the door and seats are limited. This is a charity event and proceeds will support organ donation charities The Heather Miller Memorial, Gifted the Docuseries and The Maddog Strong Foundation.

HARRISON COUNTY Extension and the Harrison Soil & Water Conservation District are set to host a program on Pond Management from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 30 in Hopedale. Topics covered during this outdoor clinic will include considerations for pond construction, stocking rates for carp and other fish, and algae and weed management. The special guest speaker for the event is Eugene Braig, program director of Aquatic Ecosystems at Ohio State University. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required; call 740-264-2212 to register and to learn the address of the event. Snacks and bottled water will be provided. In the event of severe weather, the event will be cancelled.

BELMONT SOIL and Water Conservation District’s Half Acre Homesteading class for August is about Backyard Barnyards. The Backyard Barnyard class will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 30 at Olney Friends School, 61830 Sandy Ridge Road, Barnesville.

This class will be taught by Don Guindon, farm manager, and Cayce Morrison, assistant farm manager.

They will be teaching participants about raising livestock for food production on a small scale. Olney Friends School currently raises meat and layer chickens, goats, pigs, turkeys and cattle. WAYMAN AME Church, 1136 Eoff St., Wheeling, will be celebrating 157 years of service to God and the Wheeling community during a celebration set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.

The Rev. DeNeice Welch, pastor of Bidwell Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, will be there to celebrate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the milestone.

Inside the church masks are still required. Wayman has been in existence since 1865 at the original site on Market Street until the Wheeling Tunnel was built.

SUNDAY, Aug. 28, Pastor Jerry Wenger will continue his sermon series on “Kingdom Living” at the 8:15 a.m. Traditional service, 9:30 a.m. Contemporary service, and the 11 a.m. Blended service at East Richland Friends Church, 67885 Friends Church Road, St. Clairsville.
