Donley Family Singers set to perform
COLERAIN — One of the region’s most talented musical families — the Donley Family Singers — will be singing at the Colerain Presbyterian Church at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 7. The singers are the descendants of Millard and Daisy Donley of Martins Ferry.
They were active members of Colerain Presbyterian Church. They had four children: Dale Donley, Glenn Donley Fisher, Carol Donley Blake and Loren Donley.
Glenna, Carol and Loren Donley were music educators in New Jersey and Ohio. In 1975 the family sang at the celebration of Daisy and Millard’s 50th wedding anniversary. They have been singing together each summer since then.
This year’s choir is made up of the next three generations and cousins from Daisy’s family: Rilla White Stanchina and Elnore White McElroy.
Daisy and Millard Donley created a rich tradition and love of choral music in the family.
In the current generations there are 12 music degrees.
The Donley Family Singers believe that singing as a family is a way they can celebrate each other, share their faith and honor their parents and grandparents.
