Barnesville FFA compete in soil judging competition

BARNESVILLE — This year the Barnesville High School Future Farmers of America participated in the District 8 Soil Judging Competition with several students winning awards.
The District Competition was held on Oct. 8 with 24 Barnesville students competing.
Two teams qualified to compete at the State Soil Judging Competition.
The Rural team placed second overall and the Urban team placed third overall.
The two teams that placed were the Rural Soil Team consisting of Emma Welch, 5th place; Charlie Wells, 10th place; Lydia Fuchs, 11th place; Jonathan Inherst, 12th place; and Addison Carpenter placing 13th overall.
The Urban Soils Team consisted of Cade Christman, 3rd place; Jacob Smith, 8th place; Ayden Andrews, 16th place; and Eli Messenger, 18th place overall.
“We are very proud of everyone and looking forward to seeing their future accomplishments,” said teacher Etta Moyer, who is also the Barnesville FFA advisor.
