BARNESVILLE — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs/The Junior Women’s Club of Barnesville recently sponsored an anti-bullying event at the Haven.

The Haven is an after-school faith-based program that currently supports 15 children in grades 1-4 in Barnesville.

Club members Joyce Spigarelli and Peggy Hickenbottom presented the kids with large colorful anti-bullying stickers, suckers and a book called, “Dragon and a Bully” by Steve Herman.

The book is a cute children’s story that teaches kids about dealing with bullying in school.

Hickenbottom talked to the children about bullying and who to report bullying to.

The children were happy to receive the books and several of the parents also reacted favorably. The “Dragon and a Bully” was a creative way to open the dialog with children about strangers and safety.
