OOGEEP taking applications for 2023 scholarship program

GRANVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program, along with the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation, is now accepting applications for the 2023 scholarship program.

Students who are interested in pursuing careers in the natural gas and oil industry can qualify for a $1,000 scholarship. Applications will be accepted through March 1.

Scholarships are awarded to Ohio students interested in pursuing careers such as petroleum engineer, finance, equipment operator, mechanical engineer, welder and many more. The scholarship can be used to attend an accredited college, university, technical or trade school. The student must maintain a gradepoint average of 2.5 or higher.

“Every year we are incredibly grateful to be able to assist young Ohioans in pursuing good paying careers in the natural gas and oil industry. We can’t wait to meet our 2023 scholarship recipients and see all that they will accomplish,” said Shawn Toy, Education and Workforce Development manager, OOGEEP.

OOGEEP is proud to support the next generation of leaders and workers in the natural gas and oil industry through its scholarship program. Since 2007,

OOGEEP has awarded 599 scholarships to students pursuing careers in the natural gas and oil industry. These past winners have represented 74 different colleges, universities, technical or trade schools, and include 61 different majors, degrees or certificate programs.

OOGEEP is a nonprofit, statewide education and public outreach program. Created in 1998, OOGEEP provides a variety of programs throughout the state on behalf of Ohio’s natural gas and crude oil producers. The primary goal is to educate Ohio’s consumers and leaders by focusing on industry research, teacher workshops, scholarships, science fairs, firefighter training, career and workforce development, landowner and guest speaker programs.
