Viennese Winter Ball Cotillion ready to dance the night away

WHEELING — The Viennese Winter Ball, the most elegant social event of the season, takes place on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Glessner Auditorium in Wilson Lodge, Oglebay.

Organized by a 17-member committee, the ball is an important fundraiser for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.

A highlight of the event is the participation of the Cotillion, featuring 10 young women and 10 young men, all seniors at area schools. Gary and Missy Glessner are sponsors of the 2023 Cotillion.

The young women chosen for the 2023 Cotillion are:

Kathleen Alexa Fritter of Wheeling is the daughter of Ralph II and Melissa Fritter and a senior at Wheeling Park High School. She plans to attend West Virginia University and major in musical theater.

Kelsey Sue Glessner of Valley Grove is the daughter of Gary and Missy Glessner and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend Clemson University to study animal and veterinarian sciences.

Amanda Elizabeth Herndon of Wheeling is the daughter of Dr. Richard and Pamela Herndon and is a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend Duquesne University and major in forensic science with a minor in pre-law.

Morgan Lee Lander of Rayland is the daughter of Frank and Lee Ann Lander and a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. She plans to attend Kent State University and pursue a degree in aeronautics with a concentration in air traffic control.

Bridget Catherine Lofstead of Wheeling is the daughter of Gerald and Christina Lofstead and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend a four-year university to study biology with a focus on pre-med and eventually attend medical school.

Megan Jade Maroney of Wheeling is the daughter of West Virginia Sen. Michael Maroney, MD, and Kimberly Maroney and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend the WVU Honors Program, major in biochemistry, and eventually attend dental school.

Reagan Elizabeth Olejasz of Wheeling is the daughter of the Honorable Michael and Roberta Olejasz and a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. She plans to attend a college in the South, major in psychology with a minor in business, and eventually attend medical school.

Taylor Rose Remp of Wheeling is the daughter of Chad and Jamie Remp and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend WVU and pursue her interest in medicine.

Grace Weber Ridenhour of Wheeling is the daughter of the Rev. William Ridenhour and Lea Ridenhour and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend Bucknell University and major in engineering.

Sofia Maria Robertson of Wheeling is the daughter of Dr. Douglas and Anya Robertson and a senior at The Linsly School. She plans to attend a four-year university and has an interest in pre-med.

The young men named to the 2023 Cotillion are:

Marino Spyridon Alexander of Wheeling is the son of Spiro and Carla Alexander and a senior at Steubenville Catholic Central High School.

He plans to attend the Honors College at Belmont Abbey College and major in great books and eventually earn a doctorate.

Aiden J. Christ of Caldwell, Ohio, is the son of Kevin Christ and Tracy Christ and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend a four-year university and major in mechanical engineering.

Wyatt Matthew Haynes of Shadyside is the son of William and Nancy Haynes and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend a four-year university to major in aviation engineering and eventually become a pilot.

Collin David McCracken of Wheeling is the son of Thomas D. McCracken and Danielle Cross McCracken and a senior at Wheeling Park High School. He plans to attend WVU and major in history and political science to prepare for a career in education or public administration.

Andrew Quinn McKenzie of Wheeling is the son of Andy and Carrie McKenzie and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in business with a minor in film production.

John Philip Papadimitriou of Wheeling is the son of Dr. Leigh Anne Massey and John Massey and Dr. Paul Papadimitriou and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend a four-year university and major in biology with a minor in theater arts and pursue a career in health care.

Collin Robert Paull of Wheeling is the son of Lee C. IV and Jennifer Paull and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend a four-year university and major in business.

Trey James Prather of Wheeling is the son of John and Beth Prather and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend the University of Tampa and major in finance, business, and economics.

Matthew August Turak of Wheeling is the son of Christopher and Shawn Turak and a senior at The Linsly School. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky or Michigan State University and major in business and marketing.

Braden Alexander Whitelatch of Moundsville is the son of William and Trish Whitelatch and a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. He plans to attend the University of Notre Dame and major in chemistry.
