LifeWise organizers provide update

SHADYSIDE – Organizers of the LifeWise Academy that intends to offer instruction to Shadyside public school students provided the following information on the program and their progress.

The LifeWise Academy is a Released Time Religious Instruction program that provides Bible-based character education to public school students.

“We bring Bible education to public school students during school hours,” they wrote.

This is a list of the ten steps to launch the Lifewise Academy and how far along Shadyside is in the process:

1. Collect 50 signatures (DONE)

2. Join a kick-off call with Lifewise (DONE)

3. Raise $500 to show we are serious (DONE)

4. Form a Steering Committee (DONE)

5. Draft a plan to present to the schools (DONE)

6. Obtain school approval (DONE)

7. Recruit the leadership team. The team will include a paid part-time director and a volunteer board.

8. Train the leadership team (through Lifewise)

9. Execute the plan

10. Go live (We launch in the fall of 2023)

Organizers are in the process of hiring a director with a candidate who will be vetted by LifeWise. The primary requirements for the director position are to be Christ-centered and have a passion for God’s word. Secondly, the director will subscribe and adhere to the LifeWise curriculum.
