Vacation Bible schools to start at local churches

CHURCHES ACROSS Eastern Ohio are preparing to host vacation Bible school programs.

East Richland Friends Church will host “Keepers of the Kingdom” this Monday through Friday with sessions from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All children ages 4 years through completing sixth grade are welcome. To sign up, visit erfriends.com or call the church office at 740-695-0971.

Riverview Bible Church in Bellaire will be kicking off summer by hosting its vacation Bible school this Monday through Friday as well. Classes are from 6-8:30 p.m.

This program is for a broader range of students, as 2-year-olds through 12th-graders can attend. Parents should bring their children a little early on Monday to help them get registered.

The theme for Riverview Bible Church’s VBS is dinosaurs, and the program is called “Stompers and Chompers: building dino-sized faith in God’s big plan.” The program will feature Bible lessons, crafts, games, puppets and songs. Grace Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry will have its VBS from June 11-15th. Classes will be held 6-8:30 p.m. On June 16, the children will take a field trip to Cuyahoga County for a ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Railway. This year’s theme is “All Aboard with Jesus.” Pre-registration is required to attend. Visit gracechurchmartinsferry.org for more information.

Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville will host VBS from 9 a.m. to noon June 12-16. The theme for Thoburn’s VBS is “Stellar: Shine Jesus’ Light.” Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome to attend. Children in seventh through 12th grades can serve as volunteers. Parents must pre-register their children on Thoburn United Methodist Church’s website, thoburn.org, or its Facebook page to attend.

Harbor of Hope Assembly of God in St. Clairsville will host VBS from June 19-22 with sessions from 6-8 p.m. The theme is “Twists and Turns.” All children from preschool age to those going into sixth grade may attend. Parents can register their children on Harbor of Hope Assembly of God’s Facebook page.

First Christian Church in Martins Ferry plans to host its vacation Bible school on July 23-27.
