SATURDAY, Aug. 26 The Annual Smith Township Alumni Banquet will be held at the old Centerville School, 46642 Main St. Jacobsburg, OH. The doors will open at 5, with dinner being served at 6. Any alumni of Smith Twp. or Centerville, is invited to attend. The dinner is $20/person, money needs to be sent to Sharon DiSantis, at 57900 Armstrong Centerville Rd., Jacosbsburg, Ohio 43933, prior to Aug. 21. THURSDAY, Aug. 17 The Belmont County, East Central Grazing Alliance event will be held at the Egypt Valley Wildlife Area on August 17th at 6 p.m.
This farm tour will include Herd Manager Steve Harris, who will discuss his management practices on the approximately 4,000 acres that he grazes. Patrons will hear from Jeff Porter, Wildlife Area Supervisor, about the work that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has been doing to battle invasive plants, especially Autumn olive, in the Wildlife Area. Bob Hendershot, Retired State Grasslands Conservationist, will talk about soil health and how grazing can be used as a method of improving soil health.
The tour will meet at the Barnesville exit 202 Park and Ride at 5:45pm to travel to the tour location. Dinner will be served.

MONDAY, Aug. 7 There will be a free film showing at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library. The start time will be 6 p.m., taking place in the downstairs meeting room. The feature is “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” based on the beloved coming-of-age novel by Judy Blume. In this family comedy-drama, 11-year-old Margaret navigates new friends, feelings, and the beginning of adolescence, following her family’s move from the city to the suburbs. THURSDAY AUG. 10 The regular monthly meeting of the Wheeling Newcomer’s Club will be held at the Belmont Hills Country Club at 10:30 a.m. The club is open to all new or returning ladies to the Wheeling area. It is a wonderful way to learn about people and places in and around the Ohio Valley and make new friends in the process. In August, the guest speaker is Staci Stephen, the Executive Director of the United Way of Ohio Valley. She will address her goals for the organization, while also discussing the functions of the United Way, how funding is secured, and the procedures for distributing funds. A luncheon will follow. THURSDAY AUG. 10, teachers in the Ohio Valley area are invited to the Ohio Valley Mall for Totes of Appreciation. From 5:30-9 p.m., teachers will enjoy refreshments, a “Teach the Teachers” seminar and craft ideas. Most importantly, teachers will receive tote bags filled with goodies, and they’ll be able to load those bags with a plethora of free classroom supplies.
Space is limited. Teachers must sign up through Eventbrite.com and show their school identification to enter the event.
Totes of Appreciation is sponsored by Belmont Savings Bank, with additional help from Boscov’s and the Belmont County Salvation Army.
TUESDAY AUG. 8, Music Under the Stars, an outdoor, free event, will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Amphitheater. There will be music throughout the evening plus free hot dogs, food trucks and ice cream (for purchase), games for the whole family, inflatables and face painting for kids, fireworks at dusk and more. Everyone is welcome to join this community event.
UNION LOCAL Soccer is holding a dine to donate event Aug. 7 at Buffalo Wild Wings, St. Clairsville. Whether you eat in or get takeout, you can donate by telling the staff you wish to support the team.
THE SECOND annual Reynolds Memorial Hospital Reunion will be held for all former employees of Reynolds Memorial Hospital from 2-6 p.m. Aug. 26 at St. Francis Xavier Hall, 915 Sixth St., Moundsville.
This event is open to former and retired employees of RMH, as well as people presently employed at WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital who began their employment when it was still Reynolds Memorial.
Bob’s Lunch will cater the event. Organizers will provide water, coffee and the famous Reynolds Punch, but participants are welcome to bring other drinks with them to the event. Spouses and/or significant others are also welcome to attend. A group picture will be taken at around 3 p.m., a copy of which can be purchased.
Monetary donations are also accepted.
