ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Gus Goodman won the title of Master Dance of America 2024 on July 3.

Gus, 9, and his brother, Harvey, 10, both won the opportunity to represent Ohio at the Dance Masters of America Dance Pageant in Atlanta, Georgia, by winning their respective age categories at the Ohio Dance Masters Title Competition in January.

The brothers are residents of St. Clairsville. They began dancing as toddlers in Mommy and Me classes at The Oglebay Institute School of Dance and continued their last six years of training at Turn It Out Dance Academy in Bellaire.

This dynamic duo spends a lot of time at the dance studio and at home working on their craft.

Gus is entering fourth grade at St. Clairsville Elementary. He has a busy year ahead juggling his school work and dance training with the new obligations and events that are associated with his new national title.

He will travel to various states and assist in convention classes and perform his winning lyrical solo titled “If this was the last time,” which was choreographed by Mandy Doyle and Lacey Booth, directors at Turn It Out Dance Academy.

To win Master Dance of America, Gus had to perform his solo dance, represent himself in an interview and audition in a series of technique classes in front of a panel of nationally recognized judges.

Gus said he is very honored and excited to represent America as Master Dance of America 2024.

Harvey is in sixth grade at The Linsly School. Although he didn’t place in the title competition for Junior Mr. Dance of America, he is very proud to be able to represent Ohio as Junior Mr. Dance of Ohio. He looks forward to supporting his little brother in the upcoming year and taking advantage of new opportunities to learn from the Dance Masters of America Organization.
