Watt Center 2024 calendar features the National Road
BARNESVILLE — The Watt Center for History and the Arts 2024 calendar is now available for sale at the following Barnesville locations: Barnesville Antique Mall, Do-It-Best Hardware, Avenues of Barnesville, Designed for Print, The Flower Gardens and Barnesville Chamber of Commerce.
Copies will also be available at the Watt Center during the group’s book sale at 511 Watt Ave. in the old company office building during the Pumpkin Festival.
The annual calendar for next year focuses on the National Road.
The groundbreaking for the federal highway in Ohio occurred on Independence Day 1825 in front of the Belmont County Courthouse, St. Clairsville.
Subjects covered by month include Constructing the National Road, Covered Wagons and Stagecoaches, “S” Bridges including Blaine Hill “S” Bridge and Blaine Hill Viaduct, National Road Pike Towns, From Taverns to Motels, Pittsburgh-Wheeling Rivalry and the Suspension Bridge, Highway Signs and Advertising, Decline and Renovation and The National Road Today.

The Watt Center for History and the Arts provides a museum to preserve and display artifacts illustrating the rich historical record of business, industry and agriculture of Barnesville, and the surrounding area.
