60th wedding anniversary: Thompson

PAUL (Tom) AND JEAN Thompson will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary, Oct. 4. They were united in marriage, Oct. 4, 1947, at the bride's home by Rev. William Cooke. Following a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, the couple returned to the home in Mt. Pleasant in which they currently reside.

Thompson is the son of the late Paul and Maude Thompson and is semi-retired from Thompson and Sons family business in Dillonvale. His wife, Jean (Griffith), is the daughter of the late Donley and Ferne Griffith and retired after serving as postmaster of Mt. Pleasant.

The couple has three children, Don (Rhoda) Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, Ron (Carolyn) Thompson of Rockwall, Texas and Bonnie (Ted) Riggle of New Concord. They have six grandchildren: Ben (Michelle) Thompson, Chris (Alicia) Thompson, Stephanie (Barry) Luff, Brent and Brad (Amanda) Riggle, Amanda Thompson and two step-grandchildren: Cathy Gerlach and Rose (Rick) Reed. There are six great-grandchildren: Quincy, Liam, Sophia and Jaelee Thompson, Averi and Brady Luff, and four step-grandchildren: Chad and Linsey Gerlach, Ashley and Alyssa Reed.

The children are hosting an open house at the Mt. Pleasant Friends Church on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 3 To 5 p.m., in the Quaker Hall. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. No gifts please.
