Mr.and Mrs. Lowell D. Akers of Morristown are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Dec. 2. They were united in marriage on Dec. 2, 1957 at the Justice of the Peace in Indiana, with Sharon Akers, sister of the groom, and Lela Warfield, mother of the bride attending.
Akers, son of the late Earl and Cecil Akers is retired from R & F Coal Company. His wife Anita, daughter of the late Ward and Lela Warfield, is employed by Wal-Mart.
They are the parents of 5 children, Larry (Jackie) Akers of Uniontown, Ohio; Tony (Tammy) Akers of Bannock, Terry Akers of Morristown, Kim (Mark) Kurucz of Morristown and Tom Akers of Morristown. They have six grandchildren, Travis, Scott, Brittany, Terry Lee, Kevin and Dusty and two great-grandchildren, Clay and Braylon.
A family celebration is being planned.
