BRIDGEPORT -- John F. and Kathy L. Whitacre Jr. have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They were united in marriage April 8, 1978 at the First United Methodist Church, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Ben Magee officiating.
Whitacre is the son of the late John F. "Freddie' Whitacre Sr. and Mary "Jenny'' Whitacre of Colerain. He is employed by Swisher International in Wheeling as a production supervisor. He is an avid fisherman and tournament director for the Clendening and Piedmont Fishing Clubs.
His wife, the former Kathy Huffman, is the daughter of the late James Huffman, and the late Rosemary Huffman Ripley and Thomas Ripley of Lansing. She is employed by Leigh Anne Papadimitriou, MD, as receptionist. She is a lay preacher for the East Central Ohio Area Ministry (ECO) of the Episcopal Church, which consists of her home church of St. Paul's, Martins Ferry; Trinity, Bellaire; St. John's, Cambridge; and St. James in Zanesville.
The couple has a son, Greg of the home, a son, Jeff daughter-in-law Jess and granddaughter Audrey Jade of Neffs.
