MARTINS FERRY – Arthur and Lois Schunn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 11. They were united in marriage, July 11, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Martins Ferry, with the late Rev. Paul W. O. Heist, officiating.

Schunn is the son of the late Mathias and Anna Schunn. He served in WWII as an Aviation Ordinance 2nd Class, U.S. Navy. He retired in 1983 from the former Blaw Knox and Machinery Corp., Wheeling Plant after working 33 years as a welder. He was also the sexton of St. John Lutheran Church in Martins Ferry for 17 years. His wife, Lois, is the daughter of the late Charles and Idella Shurtz. She was employed with the U.S. Maritime Service in Washington, D.C. during WWII. She worked at the former Security Trust Co. of Wheeling, and was secretary for Pastor Heist for 15 years. She also served as a volunteer at East Ohio Regional Hospital for 24 years.

They are currently members of Edgewood Lutheran Church, Wheeling and are the parents of two daughters, Arleen and Rev. Robert Hawk of Greensburg, Pa., and Anita, of the home.

A family dinner was held in their honor.
