50th wedding anniversary: Thompson

Thomas and Rose Thompson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 18 with a luncheon at the St. Clairsville Eagles with their family and friends. They were married Oct. 18, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Md. by the late Rev. Emil G. Teyssier.

Thompson is the son of the late Floyd and Edith Thompson formally of Wheeling. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and retired from Fort Knox, Ky. as a civil employee. His wife Rose is the daughter of the late Verda Jeffers and Fred “Crow” Smith formally of Warwood.

They have three daughters, Cindy Battocletti and her husband Lawrence of St. Clairsville, Dana Coniff and her husband John of Wheeling, and Ruth Whelan and her husband Tony of Elizabethtown, Ky. They have five grandchildren: Joseph Hakr, Rebecca Cooey and her husband Brian, Jason Beaver, Michael Thomas and Andrew Beaver and one great-grandson, Aden Cooey.
