50th wedding anniversary
MORRISTOWN – Mitch and Nancy (Whitlatch) Toto will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 1. They were united in marriage Oct. 1, 1960 at St. Casimirs in Adena, followed by a reception at the Toto Farm.
Toto is an outdoor boiler installation and sales person and has retired twice. He was also inducted in the Ohio Seniors Hall of Fame in 2008 for his athletic endeavors and those for Valley Hospice.
His wife, Nancy, is a volunteer with “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer,” Flushing, The Wheeling “Walk for Women”, the “Relay for Life” for both Ohio and Belmont Counties having done over 70 walks in her 16 1/2 years as a breast cancer survivor. She is also volunteering with several other Belmont County organizations including A Special Wish Foundation and Valley Hospice.
They are the parents of three children: Chris Nicholes, Mitch Toto Jr., and the late Barbie Chesnick; five grandchildren: Nichelle, Justin and Kelsey Anne Nicholes, Brittany Chesnick and Dalton Toto.
A celebration in honor of their 50th anniversary was celebrated together with their family, friends and neighbors at Toto’s “To Ponder” Rec Center, on July 3. Mitch and Nancy enjoy supporting each other in their various activities.
50th wedding anniversary
BELLAIRE – Bill and Dolly Fischer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17. They were united in marriage Sept. 17, 1960 at St. Marys Church in McKees Rocks, Pa.
Fischer is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Fischer Sr. of McKees Rocks, Pa. He is a retired computer operations supervisor with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. His wife, Dolly, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Tankosh of McKees Rocks, Pa. She is a retired owner of Sunset Carryout and a Kaufmann’s sales associate.
They are the parents of five children: Kathy Case of St. Clairsville, Barbara and her husband, Steve Fish of Charleston, W. Va.; Dr. Bill Fischer III of Wooster, Ohio, Sgt. Kurt (Merci) Fischer, U.S. Army, has served one tour in Desert Storm and three tours in Irag, resides in Columbia, S.C., and Melissa and her husband, Rob Davis, of Bellaire; nine grandchildren and a brand new great-grandson.
A reception was held in their honor at the Belmont Hills Country Club, St. Clairsville.
50th wedding anniversary
BARNESVILLE – Richard and Ruth Betts celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 11. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1960 at the First Methodist Church in Barnesville, by Rev. Floyd Workman.
Betts is the son of the late James and Emma Betts of Barnesville. His wife, Ruth, is the daughter of the late Ottie and Goldie Carpenter of Batesville, Ohio.
They are the parents of one daughter, Teresa (Chris) Gallagher of the Woodlands, Texas; two grandchildren: Matt Robinson of Conroe, Texas and Christy Gallagher of Kyle, Texas and one great-grandson, Colton Robinson of Conroe, Texas.
The couple celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Mazatlan, Mexico.
An open house will be held at the Barnesville Youth Center from 1 to 3 p.m., on Sept. 19.
The couple request no gifts.
50th wedding anniversary
DILLONVALE – Ken and Eleanore Scott celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3. They were united in marriage at St. Adalbert Church, Dillonvale, with the Rev. F. X. Stromski officiating.
Scott, son of the late Ernest and Laura Scott is retired from AEP, where he worked in the Stores Department and later became a supervisor of stores in the Steubenville Division. He is also retired from Mt. Pleasant Building Products. His wife, Eleanore, is the daughter of the late Ted and Mary Bartyzel, and was employed in the law offices of Atty. Charles Pieros, Judge Michael Button and Atty. Lawrence I. Boothe. They are members of the St. Adalbert Church in Dillonvale.
They are the parents of two children: Carrie Scott-Nemetz and her husband, John, of Greensburg, Pa., and Kevin Scott and his wife, Jennifer, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren: Alexis and Matthew Scott and Francesca and Johnathan Nemetz.
A family celebration was held in their honor.
