Sickle: 30th wedding anniversary

ST CLAIRSVILLE – Kenn and Cheryl Sickle are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary today, Nov. 9. They were united in marriage Nov. 9, 1984 at Friends Evangelical Church, East Richland with Pastor Wayne Ickes officiating.

Sickle, son of the late William H. and Evelyn Matheas Sickle, grew up in Mt. Pleasant, graduated with a BA in journalism from Ohio University, Athens and currently serves as pastor of the 1st Presbyterian Churches of Mingo Junction and Brilliant.

His wife, the former Cheryl Schwender Murray, is the daughter of the late Harold O. and Adabelle Davis Schwender of Martins Ferry. She is a secretary for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.

The couple has three children: Larry Murray and his fiancee, Cynthia Bickerstaff, of Wintersville; Adam (Rose) Murray of Cottage Grove, Ore.; and Mallory (Christopher) Vopal of Pittsburgh, Pa. Four grandchildren complete the family: Tyler, Mackenzie and Rachel Murray of Wayne, Ohio, and Constance Murray of Cottage Grove, Ore. The couple also has a granddog, Jenny and two grandkitties, Jack and Joe.

The couple celebrated their anniversary by renewing vows in their garden on Aug. 3, with the Rev. Erica Harley officiating. Their family and family friends Chip and Mary Antonacci were in attendance.
