BELLAIRE – Carl and Juanita Slater celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 8. They were united in marriage at the Kirkwood United Methodist Church in Bridgeport on May 8, 1965, with the Rev. Lawrence Bryan, on the 28th wedding anniversary of Carl’s parents.

Slater is the son of the late Joseph and Elsie Slater. His wife, Juanita, is the daughter of the late Harold and Mary Kathryn Filcaske of Bridgeport. They both are semi-retired, and enjoy traveling around the United States, as well as abroad, with friends who share a common interest in bird watching and natural history.

They are the parents of three children: Christine Louise Jones (Michael) of Plain City, Ohio; Cynthia Marie Slater (Christopher) of Scottdale, Pa.; and Eric Allan (Amy) of Bellaire; Grandchildren are: Elizabeth and Samuel Files of Plain City; Brittany Slater of Pleasant View, Utah and Cody Slater of Bellaire.
