Kokikos’ 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kokiko Jr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17. They were united in marriage Sept. 17, 1966, at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Douglas Pomeroy officiating the ceremony.

Kokiko is the son of the late Olga and Charles Kokiko Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy and is retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel at the Martins Ferry Plant. He is currently a Mount Pleasant Township trustee. His wife, Shirley, is the daughter of the late Emma and William Harr Sr. She was a former supervisor of Bobby Brooks Garment Co. formerly in Bellaire.

They are the parents of three children: Chuck and his wife, Angel, of Harrisville; Krista Kinyo and her husband, Ken, of Harrisville; and Kristal Smith and her husband, Perry, of Virginia. They also have five grandchildren: Noah and Dominic Kokiko, Kaydence and Kamden Kinyo, and Caleb Smith.

The family celebrated with a trip this summer to Niagara Falls where the couple originally honeymooned in 1966. The couple also recently renewed their vows followed by a reception where they were honored by family and friends.
