anniversary

John and Kathy Whitacre of Belmont celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 8. They were united in marriage April 8, 1978, at the First United Methodist church in Bridgeport.

John is the son of the late Freddie and Jenny Whitacre. He is a 42-year employee of Swisher International as a supervisor. John is a bass tournament fisherman belonging to several fishing clubs.

Kathy is the daughter of the late James Huffman and Rosemary Huffman Ripley and Tom Ripley. She is a 22-year receptionist for Dr. Leigh Anne Massey. She is a lay minister for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bellaire.

They are avid Ohio State Buckeye football fans.

The couple has two sons: Jeff and his wife Paige of Bridgeport and Greg of St. Clairsville. Grandchildren Audrey Jade and Adam James complete their family.
