Grant and Jay (Runco) Helms recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They exchanged vows on Sept. 2, 1961, by Fr. Connie Superfisky at St. Joseph’s in Tiltonsville.

Grant was the proprietor of Grant’s Barber Shop for many years and Jay was instrumental in starting the school nurse program in what is now Buckeye Local where she worked for 30 years. In the past they owned and operated a number of family businesses in the area starting with Rosie’s Pizza, G & Jay’s Place, and Fairway 4 Restaurant & Lounge. Currently they maintain active roles at Fairway River Links GC in Rayland and Riverside GC in Sardis Grant and Jay have two sons.

David (Susan) Helms and Barry (Danielle) Helms of Tiltonsville and a special niece, Judy (Doug) Peckens of Yorkville. They also have four grandchildren (Sydney, Caitlin, Trey, Spencer) and four special nieces and nephews (Shaylee, DJ, Breeci, Rami) of which they proudly boast. They celebrated with a special blessing by Fr. Bill Cross at St. Joseph mass in Tiltonsville and dinner with family at Alpha Tavern.
