Keith and Terry Samrany of Grand Island, N.Y. announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen to John Christopher Mercer, son of Bruce and Sindy Mercer of Flushing.
The bride-to-be is a 1993 graduate of Grand Island High School, Grand Island, N.Y. She served in the United States Army from 1993-1999 as a surgical technologist. She is a 2001 graduate of University of North Carolina – Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She received a master of science in physician assistant studies from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, W.Va. in 2005. She is employed as a physician assistant in general surgery at Wheeling Hospital.
Her fiance is a 1994 graduate of Union Local High School. He is a 1999 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a bachelor’s degree in biology, a 2001 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a master’s degree in physical therapy, and a 2005 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a doctorate degree in physical therapy. He is employed as a physical therapist at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
A Sept. 27 wedding is planned.
