Bryan Nardo of Shadyside and Emma Gilmore of Iola, Kan., announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Larry and Denise Gilmore of Iola. She is on track to graduate in May with a physical therapy assistant’s degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. She works at Newman Physical Therapy in Emporia, Kan.

The prospective groom is the son of Perry and Jayme Nardo of Shadyside. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sports administration in 2008 and a master’s degree in coaching education in 2011 from Ohio University in Athens. He is an assistant football coach at Emporia State University, serving as the program’s co-defensive coordinator and linebacker coach.

A May 27 wedding is planned at St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire.
