AUDITIONS FOR Towngate Theatre’s production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 25-26 at Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre, 2118 Market Street, Wheeling. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble of dozens of local actors, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. Dave Henderson directs Towngate’s production, which will be staged Dec. 1-3 and 8-9. It calls for a cast up to 25 actors, males and females ages 13 and older. BELLAIRE PUBLIC Library, 330 32nd St., Bellaire, is slated to host the following programs:

∫ Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. — Classical guitarist and conductor, Kevin Sherwin will perform. Sherwin is an accomplished soloist and leader of orchestral and choral ensembles, and has performed throughout the United States.

∫ Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Jewelry Making Workshop. Instruction will be provided on how to make a stretch bracelet. This is expected to be a relaxing, fun experience. All materials will be provided. All programs are free and open to the public; call 740-676-9421 for more information.

THE 15th Annual Down Syndrome Buddy Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at Jim Woods Park in Steubenville from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $5 per person. There will be inflatables, auction, food, and much more. This is a 1-mile walk to show inclusion and acceptance of people with Down syndrome in the community.

BELMONT COUNTY Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will have its 22nd First Family & Pioneer Family Banquet at 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Barnesville Senior Center, 229 E. Main St., Barnesville. SMITH TOWNSHIP Volunteer Fire Department is in the process of collecting recipes to be included in a cookbook commemorating its 60th anniversary. Recipes from the community are being taken. The book will be a three-ring binder and will be for sale at the beginning of next year. Recipes are being accepted until Nov. 1 with the goal of having it at the publisher by Dec. 1.
