Zanesville Museum of Art opens a new exhibition
ZANESVILLE — The Zanesville Museum of Art’s newest exhibition, “Contemporary Ceramics” by Justin Teilhet is now open through Jan. 6.
The world of contemporary ceramics has undergone a dynamic transformation over the last decade as pioneering makers redene the frontiers of this versatile medium. Yellow Springs, Ohio porcelain artist Justin Teilhet, creates highly rened decorative works that demonstrate the artist’s anity for elegant silhouettes.
Although he has no formal ceramics training, his sophisticated surfaces establish him as an innovator in the eld. The technically challenging Fin series, for example, requires Teilhet to develop alternative ways of working with porcelain.
Contemporary Ceramics by Justin Teilhet will be featured as a stop in the 2017 Southeast Ohio Contemporary Ceramic Trail. This Ceramic Trail, with stops all over Southeastern Ohio, showcases the many wonderful exhibitions, festivals, and events featuring ceramic works. The Southeast Ohio Contemporary Ceramic Trail is a partnership of The Dairy Barn Arts Center, Kennedy Museum of Art, Zanesville Museum of Art, Muskingum County Community Foundation, Zanesville Prize for Contemporary Ceramics, and the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio.
