Film society to show ‘Dunkirk’

STEUBENVILLE — The Franciscan University Film Society continues its virtual trek through the World Wars with a showing of Dunkirk on Friday.

Dunkirk tells the story of Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, and France, who though surrounded by the German Army, are evacuated during a fierce battle at the start of World War II.

A panel discussion led by Robert Doyle, Franciscan University of Steubenville professor of history, will be held following the screening.

The viewing begins at 7 p.m. in Anathan Theatre, Ground Floor, Egan Hall. Admission is free. Dunkirk is rated PG-13 for intense war violence and some language and has received an A-III rating from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

This showing is part of the Film Society’s “The World Wars” series for the spring semester. The screenings are co-sponsored by the Departments of Communication Arts and Fine Arts.
