Entertainment set for Thursday Music Club

WHEELING — JoAnn Davis will entertain the Thursday Music Club at 11 a.m. Thursday at The CharHouse on the Boulevard in Bethlehem.

Call Sandy Smith at 304-242-1628 by Saturday, Jan. 27, to make a reservation. The lunch will be CharHouse pretzel burger, pasta salad, dessert, coffee, tea and water.

Members Carol Millard and Lois Neitzelt will greet members and guests. Anyone can join the Thursday Music.

President Suzie McCormick will have a short business meeting calling on Mary Ann Mysliwiec for the treasurer’s report and Judy Szymialis for the secretary’s report and other committee chairwomen for their reports.

Director Anita Chops has chorus practice every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Elm Grove Methodist Church. Debbie Breiding is the accompanist.

Study Group will be the second Monday, Feb. 12, at Elm Grove Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Lottie Durbin is the presenter and will be teaching line dancing.

Youth Auditions will be held Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church in Woodsdale with the recital held on Sunday, March 24, at Vance.

When former Jamboree USA/Wheeling Jamboree star JoAnn Davis and local celebrity Laurie Labishak bring their talents together, magic happens.

Davis, who has captured the hearts of thousands of admiring friends over many years with her heartrending words, music, sincerity, love and warmth has teamed up with local songwriter Labishak. Together they are a source of ministry, inspiration, light hearted entertainment and much more. Davis, who is also an author of children’s books, has won the hearts of children with her storytelling and warm hugs. With two children’s books to her credit, “Finding Pepper” and “Pickled Pepper,” children are transported into the life of a playful puppy who teaches important lessons. Davis was named a recipient of the YWCA Tribute to Women Award in 2016 and received a bronze star at the Capitol Music Hall honoring her and her husband/singing partner, the late Jimmy Stephens.

Labishak is credited with founding the local singing group, The Honky Tonk Sweethearts, a group of three women who entertain throughout the region. She is also a regular performer on the Victoria Theater Jamboree along with Davis. Labishak was named 2021 Woman of Impact for the American Heart Association for her work in the Ohio valley in support of the organization. The sweet spoken word of Davis combined with the music and vocalization from Labishak presents a powerful program that is sure to stir the hearts of many.
