Harrison Extension Office looking for 4-H volunteers

CADIZ — The Harrison County Extension Office is looking for volunteers for this year’s Harrison County 4-H program.

Volunteers can choose if they would like to help with the Cloverbud program or 4-H program.

According to the Extension Office’s website: “Younger children age 5 and in kindergarten are Cloverbuds who enjoy group-centered, non-competitive activities until they are eligible to be a project member. All 4-H members engage in hands-on learning in clubs, camps and other settings with approved adult volunteers. 4-H volunteers are critical to the success of the 4-H program and undergo a thorough selection process.”

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can fill out an application at the extension office or by printing an application off of harrison.osu.edu. Applications must include contact information for three references along with general information. Completed applications can be delivered to the Extension Office or sent via email at romshak.4@osu.edu. The office address is 538 N. Main St., Cadiz OH 43907.

After turning in an application, potential volunteers will have to complete a brief interview with Caity Romshak, 4-H youth development educator.

Applicants will also need to complete a background check.

After completing these steps and the background check is approved, volunteers will need to create an online account at oh.4honline.com.

All new and current volunteers will have to complete one training, and sessions are only offered in February each year.

There will be training at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and Feb. 22 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. Trainees must contact the extension office to RSVP at least three days before their training of choice.

Current volunteers are encouraged to email Romshak at romshak.4@osu.edu with questions or topics that should be addressed at the trainings.

For more information or to RSVP for a training session, call 740-942-8823. General information about the 4-H program can be found at harrison.osu.edu.
