ADENA — The Adena Lions Club is gearing up for its 72nd show, “Classic Country Headlioners,” set to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. April 12-13 at Buckeye West Elementary School.

This year’s show promises to be a toe-tapping tribute to country music legends, featuring songs and styles that have shaped the genre, according to a news release.

The show, which is the club’s largest fundraiser, has been a cornerstone of community service and global outreach.

Over the past 12 shows, the Adena Lions have raised over $100,000 through program book sponsors and raffle and admission ticket sales.

These funds have been instrumental in supporting local initiatives such as providing eyeglasses, aiding food pantries, and sponsoring a summer reading program.

Additionally, the club’s affiliation with Lions Club International has enabled members to contribute to global efforts like natural disaster relief, measles vaccinations, eye research and more.

Lion Club President Marty Packer said, “Prepare for an unforgettable evening filled with the finest local talent our community has to offer! Join us for a night where laughter and joy echo through the air. Your presence turns a great time into a spectacular one.”

The show will pay tribute to country music icons such as Alabama, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton, among others. The show will also feature classic hits like “Hey Good Lookin’,” “Country Roads,” and “I Cross My Heart,” ensuring that there’s something for every country music fan.

This year’s comedy lineup promises family-friendly laughs with acts like “Nashville Squares,” a comedic nod to the classic TV game show, and the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour 2024,” which will deliver its signature down-to-earth humor.

Show Director Lion Dustin Kinsey said, “We have a 40-person show chorus, which is more than we have had in years. It seems that everyone is excited about our Classic Country show! In addition, come hear our six-piece house band complete with a fiddle player. Music, comedy, jokes — we have it all and we hope you will come and experience it with us!”

Children under 5 will be admitted free of charge. The Adena Lions Club invites everyone to join them for an evening of classic country hits and heartfelt community spirit.

The Adena Lions Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Lions Clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
