Low-growing crocus blossoms surround homes along Main Street in Belmont, where they push through snow or fallen leaves late each winter. Native to the Alps, southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, according to Britannica.com, crocuses have been cultivated for at least 2,000 years; the ones lining Belmont’s Main Street have reappeared annually for decades.
