MOUNDSVILLE — Gen. Ulysses S. Grant will visit the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library at 6 p.m. Tuesday through the performance of living history impressionist Kenneth J. Serfass.

A professional re-enactor and educator from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Serfass will bring the great Union general to life, focusing on the period of Reconstruction in 1865-1868 following the Civil War. This special event is aimed at adults and students.

Gunnery Sgt. Kenneth J. Serfass is a Pennsylvania native who joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1984.

After a 20-year career as a U.S. Marine bandsman, he settled in San Diego, California, working in numerous capacities as a music educator and conductor.

Serfass is a former civil war re-enactor and now a first-person impressionist with 50 years studying his childhood hero, U.S. Grant. He has created a niche as a full-time professional living historian portraying Ulysses S. Grant.

Serfass has been appearing publicly as Grant since 2009, including performing in a 2010 History Channel production, “Lee & Grant,” and in 2013 for an HBO series in a documentary featured on Fox Nation, debuting in 2021. Currently he speaks at events and venues across the country.

Telling the story of one of America’s greatest military leaders allows Serfass to reaffirm Grant’s place of honor among the most respected people of our nation’s history.

This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by The Robert Baker Family.

The Moundsville library is located at Fifth Street and Tomlinson Avenue in Moundsville. For more information, call the library at 304-845-6911.
