Music club hosts honors recital

WHEELING — The Young Musicians Auditions were held at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church in Wheeling on March 24, and 34 students who received ratings of Superior or Superior with Honors during the Young Musician Auditions that were held on March 15 and 16 were invited to participate in the recital.

Attendees enjoyed piano solos, as well as vocal solos, from participants who ranged in age from 8 to 18.

Judges were John Rose for the piano and David Scherrick for voice.

Students who received Superior Ratings in piano were: Laura Lish, Tylan Knight, Tyler Bane, Alyxandra Adams, Ian Sincovich, Sarah Kuhn, Nolan Powell, Elliott Masters, Emma Ischy, Annalise Rhodes, Mara Keenan, Olivia Perdue, Darcy Patt, Gianna White and Colton Gribben.

Superiors with Honors in piano went to: Nolan Rosnick, Kami Lee Martin, Ava Bretz, Alina Holliday and Mason Blackstone.

Receiving superior ratings in voice were: Morgan Miehle, Audrey Kovalski, Lyric Hill, Tessla Joseph, Peyton Medovic, Luciano Ciroli, Cecilia Litman, Destiny Angelucci and Zoey Mayberry.

Superiors with Honors in voice went to: Alice Joseph, Gus Goodman, Harvey Goodman, Kami Lee Martin and Jolena Hubbard.

Ohio Valley music teachers who entered students in this year’s Young Musicians Auditions included: Anita Chops, Barbara Daly, William Hines, Chelsey Keding, Kelsey McBride, Martha McLaughlin, Marie Parker, Paula Ring, Tonie Sivert and Janice Torrance.

Next year’s dates for the Young Musicians Auditions will be April 4 and 5, 2025, with the Honors Recital to be held at 2 p.m. April 13 at Vance Presbyterian Church in Wheeling. President of The Thursday Music Club of Wheeling Suzanne McCormick encourages all area music students and teachers to save the dates and participate in the 72nd annual event.
