MOUNT PLEASANT — A Victorian “Afternoon Tea” Party will be held 1-3 p.m. May 4 at the Samuel Gill House Tea Room, 486 Union St., Mount Pleasant.

Foods served will include an array of savory sandwiches followed by a selection of scones and other sweets, plus a variety of hot teas and cold drinks.

Guests will be entertained by featured speaker, Historical Society of Mount Pleasant President Tom Haynes, whose grandparents owned and operated the “Haynes House” restaurant, which is now the Samuel Gill house (built circa 1846).

The Gill House is now owned by the Mount Pleasant Friends Church. Guests are welcome to tour both the first and second stories of this historic structure.

Guests are encouraged to arrive attired in dresses, hats or fascinators, jewelry and gloves. A parasol would be the perfect finishing touch.

The cost is $20 per person. For reservations call Annette Kendle 740-769-7805 or Tom Haynes 937-733-7183.

All proceeds benefit the Historical Society of Mount Pleasant, Ohio.
