Gift shop posts new hours
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Historical Society of Mount Pleasant announced new hours for its gift shop in the Elizabeth House Mansion Museum, located at 438 Union St.
The shop will be open 2-5 p.m. every Sunday during the months of June, July and August. Guests are welcome to tour the 1835 historic home for a small donation. The public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration to be held at 2 p.m. June 2. Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded to those who come in to browse and drop their name into the hat.
The Elizabeth House Gift Shop offers unique gift suggestions, souvenir items, commemorative memorabilia, also wooden and pottery pieces. New to the shop is Westerwald Pottery crockery. This early American style pottery is handmade in Pennsylvania especially for historic Mount Pleasant.
“Whether it’s a souvenir or a present for a friend, a wonderful gift can be found here,” the society states in a release.
Nearby at 168 Market St., “Paige’s Pieces” will offer handcrafted fabric items in the living quarters of the 1804 Harris/Bone log cabin. Here’s what to expect in quilted items: casserole carriers, potholders, microwave baked potato bags, mug rugs, candle mats, napkins, table scarves, hanging tea towels, table runners, tree skirts, quilted stockings, quilted throws and small wall hangings.
Look for the red, white, and blue “OPEN” flags outside the Elizabeth House Mansion and the Harris/Bone log cabin each Sunday from June through August.
Tom Haynes, president of the Historical Society, said the organization raises money through the gift shop to help maintain the historic buildings in the village so future generations can appreciate their significance.
